School Reviews

5   6/13/2016
I have been at Kate Bond Middle School since the 6th grade. I finally graduated this year from 8th grade and decided to write a review on my expirence at Kate Bond. There's many things I can start off with, but I think it's best to discuss the academic program and the teachers. During my expirence at Kate Bond, I've come across teachers who have impacted me, and some who have left a terrible impression. One teacher I have to thank very much is Mrs. Pollard, whom taught me how to write essays. For that reason, I have to thank her for preparing me for high school and for what lies beyond in my future during college as well. Sadly, she wasn't at Kate Bond during my 8th grade year, but I'm glad she was my teacher through my 6th and 7th grade year. Some classes were a challenge for me, especially Algebra 1 which put me in a level that I would have never expected myself to land upon. I was usually that kid who didn't have to study at all and could still make an A/B on a test. Sadly, that changedwhen I came across my Social Studies teacher in 8th grade. I would say her name, but I won't. To be blunt, she was an appalling teacher who dosen't even know how to teach and rushes her students through every chapter without explaining the events that are going on. During the second semester, I had to really study every night and read the entire chapter (each chapter contained about 3-5 lessons) in order to pass the test. While I hated her to death, I feel like it was right for me to be in her class because for the very first time in my life, I understood what is was like and what it felt like to study very hard. So now, I know what waits for me in high school. Kate Bond not only provides a good faculty and great classes, but they also provide a wonderful arts program. We took a field trip this year to Cordova High School, and all I can say was that the building and the students were abysmal. The band room was so ugly, and it had those plastic chairs. The hallways are so narrow, and the lockers are so tiny. The ceiling had some missing tiles. When we went to the gym for the so called "performance," the high school students were so terrible when they were leaving the gym. When they left, they left water bottles and bags and left a huge mess in the bleachers. The auditorium was so ugly and small. When compared to Kate Bond, I'm thankful I went to Kate Bond, Kate Bond's auditorium is extremely nice and clean. The lockers are large without any writing or graffiti. The hallways are wide and not narrow. The hallways are always clean. Next we move on to the topic of students. Where do I even begin? I'm speaking solely from my expirence at Kate Bond. Most of these kids obviously never have gotten any home training, because some of them act like monkeys. The only word to describe most of these kids is "ratchet" and "ghetto." Some of these kids are so rude to both their peers and their teachers. This guy (I'm a female) pushed me and I almost fell over. He did it on purpose. The way these kids act is so stupid. During the year, this girl accidentally stepped on another girl's shoe. She said sorry, but the other girls was going off on her and was like "YOU WANNA FIGHT?" During lunch, me and my friend had nowhere to sit, so we say at an empty table. This girl out of nowhere screamed at us "GET THE F**K OUT OF OUR SEAT" and just went off on us. We had no idea somebody was sitting there, and she's just going to yell at us rather than to kindly ask for us to leave like a normal functioning human being. These two girls fought in the bathroom over a guy. There was this kid who went under a teacher's skirt, took a picture of her underwear, and posted it on Snapchat. This other kid took liquid deodorant and ran it across the teacher's classroom walls. If you want a great education, then this is the school for you; however, I warn you about some of these kids, don't worry, there are still some sane and respectful kids who have been taught better.
