Tara and Brian Thompson, of Tuolumne, moved from the Portland area and have taken advantage of life in the countryside by raising livestock such as pygmy goats and turkeys. The Thompsons brought their two birds, Tripp and Fin, who weigh in at just under 50 pounds each, to visit students at Summerville Elementary School. William “Bill” Brown, of Copperopolis, died Sept. 4 at a Sonora hospital. He was 78. Born in Shelton, Wash., Mr. Brown was a 15-year resident of Copperopolis. Before that, he was general manager of Lifetime Pools in Palo Alto for 27 years. “It’s time to give it up.” That was Jamestown Elementary School Trustee Cathy Stone-Carlson’s advice to counterparts on school boards throughout Tuolumne County. By “give it up,” she meant stipends and health benefits trustees in many districts enjoy.
