VENTURA — Barnes & Noble in Ventura will host a book fair next week to raise funds for Balboa Middle School’s library. It wasn’t very pretty — the nose cone was made of pens and pencils, strips of paper fluttered from its base — but the homemade missile launched by Balboa Middle School students flew straight enough, and true enough, to win first place Thursday in the Engineering Challenge at Naval Base Ventura County.
