Bluish-green waves rocked against the biologist’s boat as he halted a quarter-mile from Castle Rock, just off the coast of Crescent City. Marbled murrelets screeched softly upon his approach and a foghorn’s intermittent bellow carried through the slow-moving wind underneath Friday’s overcast sky. Then, WHOOSH.
