Last Saturday evening, Newtown High School Choral Parents hosted a Madrigal Feast at Stony Hill Inn. Talented singers, along with very funny jesters, kept the crowd entertained, while they feasted on a wonderful dinner and bid on the silent auction. - Many Helped Light The Night (Newtown Bee)

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported the first Light the Night Mini-Walk to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) on October 24. The walk was a great success with 300 walkers raising over $28,000 in the fight against cancer. - The Way We Were (Newtown Bee)

The day came about more than 40 years ago when Patricia Haroski, a secretary from Illinois, registered the day with the US Chamber of Commerce in honor of her father, a white-collar boss, in 1958. Former Rock Ridge Road residents Irene and Harold Schwartz were up from Palm Beach recently, I hear. They were on a mission to retrieve a piano out of storage for delivery to their son, Danny, in Boston. In outward appearance St Rose Parish has changed a lot since the Rev John Brady of Hartford traveled to Newtown to celebrate Mass in 1847. Originally served by itinerant priests, the Newtown parish was formally organized under the patronage of Saint Rose of Lima in 1859. FAIRFIELD — Competing with top-notch runners from the area, out of the area — and, in some instances, really far out of the area — several Newtown residents participated in the Fairfield Half Marathon, the biggest race of the Stratton Faxon Fairfield Road Race event, on June 28.
