Eight years ago today, a teacher and student from Backus Middle School in northeast were killed in the 9/11 attacks. About a dozen advocates unhappy with the efforts of Mayor Adrian Fenty’s administration to offer 11 vacant schools to developers plan a protest Friday at the office of Deputy Mayor Neil Albert. Friday is the deadline for bidding on the schools.
