  LAKEWOOD RANCH — This year, students at The Out-of-Door Academy are celebrating Thanksgiving in true fashion. During the last few weeks, students in every grade have collected non-perishable and canned food items for families in need at Gocio Elementary School in Sarasota.

  By KATE SPINNER When tomatoes are ripe in Ruskin and blueberries abundant in Myakka City, students will find them in their school lunches this year. The district plans to spend as much as $400,000 at Southwest Florida farms this year through a program called farm-to-school.
