    By THOMAS BECNEL On Friday, the Oak Park South program got a head start on the holidays with a Thanksgiving lunch for special needs students. Pine cones and pilgrims decorated tables in a Venice Middle School classroom. Students wore construction paper head bands and feathers.

    A homeowner shot a teenager who tried to steal his car early Friday, authorities say. The teenager's brother -- who also was reportedly involved in the burglary -- was arrested and the homeowner was cleared of any wrongdoing. The resident, 62-year-old Walter Gilliam, awoke at 2 a.m. and heard strange noises in the yard.
