      Tanita Peak, a fourth grade teacher at Brooklet Elementary School, was named Friday the 2010 Bulloch County School System’s Teacher of the Year. Peak learned of her selection Friday morning when Superintendent Lewis Holloway and administrators surprised her in her classroom.

      Friday on “Mornings unPHILtered,” host Phil Boyum’s first guest was the Averitt Center for the Arts Artist in Residence Lindsay Jenkins. Jenkins offers art classes for youth and adults every Thursday at the Averitt. The youth classes run from 4 – 5:15 p.m. and the adult classes run from 5:30 - 6:45 p.m., and cost $20 each.        Statesboro High senior Erin Irby loves to take pictures and cares deeply about the environment. Irby found out recently that her talent and passion helped earn her a scholarship to Ithaca College in upstate New York. And it’s not just any scholarship.
