Portage Pop Warner District Cheer and Dance Competition was held at LaPorte High School Oct. 18. Portage Jr. Midgets intermediate placed first out of six squads and Portage Jr. Pee Wees Novice place first out of 10 squads. Baytown police have arrested and charged five teens with first degree felony murder in the Feb. 16 beating death of 18-year-old Kevin Jerome Powell, who was found dead in the parking lot of a Baytown apartment complex.
