Hope Youth Development hosted a NBA Fit Challenge Competition Saturday at Gonzales Middle School. All participants will be invited to a NBA fitness clinic Jan. 9. The 12 and under Ascension Jaguars competed in the 12 and under Division I Nationals July 15 - 23 in Hampton, Virginia. 96 teams were in Hampton battling for the right to call themselves National Champions. - Jaquars place in Top 20 at Division I AAU Nationals (Gonzales Weekly Citizen)

The 13U Ascension Jaguars competed in the Division I Nationals June 28 - July 5 in Memphis against 108 teams battling for the right to call themselves National Champions. Ascension opened the tournament by defeating Maryland’s state runner-ups Mt. First it was the Gonzales Police Department, this time it was the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. After Gonzales Middle School students faced Gonzales officers in a friendly game of basketball last month, a team of deputies took up the challenge against the same team of Bulldogs. The deputies ended up with bragging rights, taking a 50-32 victory over the students.
