According to Tammy Francisco, Cedar Springs is an "amazingly caring" community, as evidenced by the attendance at a benefit held last week to raise funds for Lizzie August, a young local girl who has for many months been battling medulloblastoma, a form of cancerous brain tumor. - Golf outing September 20, to benefit Cedar Springs (MLive.com)

Help continues to come in for Lizzie August--the four-year-old Cedar Springs girl recently diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor. Almost 60 percent of area districts are not meeting the 1,098 hours minimum, once teacher training is subtracted. Most charter schools exceed the minimum.
