The last three coaches for the Hope College football team have shown a fair amount of longevity. Russ DeVette logged 15 years on the sidelines before turning the reins over to Ray Smith, who then put in 25 years as head coach before Dean Kreps was named as his replacement in 1995. Friends and family remember Tylor Usher as a fun loving young man with a gift for making people laugh and a gift for fixing and building things. Tylor Alan Usher, 21, of Dorr, died last week from injuries sustained in a fall at The BOB in Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids' Union High School recently named its top graduates of 2009. Valedictorian Joseph McGarry, son of Patrick and Susan McGarry, graduates with a 4.0 GPA.
