    Manalapan's Brian Grimm, a senior at Harvard University, was named to the All-Ivy League Soccer Team, Second Team. Grimm, a defensive midfielder, anchored a staunch defense that helped the Crimson win the Ivy League crown this fall. The Crimson registered eight shutouts en route to the Ivy League title. Grimm assisted on two game-winning goals.

The 2009 season came to an end on Nov.13 at Princeton High School where the No. 2 seed Colonials lost to No. 1 seed Princeton, 2-0, in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group III state sectional tournament championship match.

    Michelle Dassa was quite miffed when the seedings for the Monmouth County tennis tournament were announced. The defending champion from Marlboro High School found herself inexplicably unseeded.     Joseph Quartier, 56, of Ocean Gate passed away on Monday, October 19th, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Quartier was born in Hackensack, was raised in Colts Neck and had lived in Freehold before moving to Ocean Gate. He attended Marlboro High School.
