A civil war diorama went on display at the Capitol on Monday. The diorama reenacts the last land battle of the civil war fought in Texas. Six Highland High School students and retired Highland High history teacher Glen Frakes will unveil their handcrafted rebuild Monday of the 10-foot by 5-foot diorama of the Civil War Battle of Palmito Ranch. The diorama will have traveled 1,000 miles during the 14-hour transport from Gilbert. It had been on display throughout October at the Gilbert Historical Museum.
