  GREENPORT — It was 1928 and in Greenport construction was beginning on a new school. In March of that year Tice Brothers Construction of Troy won a bid to build the concrete structure, which would have six classrooms and an auditorium.

  HUDSON — Hudson Middle School has been taken off the New York State Education Department’s schools in need of improvement list under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Greenport Elementary remains on the list as a year two school in need of improvement. The SED released the information Tuesday.
