Bert Bunker, respectively known to his friends as “Bunk” was born to Dwight W. and Mary Isabelle Bunker on December 23, 1874. Bunk's father operated Galesburg’s oldest shoe store, at 132 East Main Street downtown, that was taken over by his son in 1897.
