  Seven young people were named to serve on the Thousand Oaks Youth Commission. The appointments were recommended by Councilmembers Claudia Billde la Peña and Andrew Fox and approved by the City Council during its July 14 meeting.

  I'm an eighth-grade student at Sequoia Middle School. There have been many budget cuts, which makes a worried setting in schools. We have already made a lot of cuts and trimmed a lot of corners, but I think that before the teachers start to get pinkslipped, we should find other corners to cut.

The second annual Abilities Awareness Week program was organized by the Parent Teacher Association at Sequoia Middle School on Borchard Road, which has about 1,100 students in sixth through eighth grades.
