  Twenty Horry County schools and four Georgetown County schools were among more than 400 S.C. schools to receive a Palmetto Silver or Gold award for 2008. The awards which come with a $1,000 or $1,200 award respectively are given out in two categories - improvement in general school performance and progress in closing the achievement gap.
