    Denny Hamlin finally gets the hometown win. - Photo by Kenny Moore A few bright orange Manchester High School signs waved high in the air as hometown racer, Denny Hamlin, lifted a huge monkey off his back in Saturday night’s Chevy Rock and Roll 400. Hamlin led the most laps and finally topped the leading off with a win.

    An Air Force airman and three Army privates, all with connections to the Richmond area, have recently completed basic training. Air Force Airman Victor E. Jackson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Jackson, a 2006 graduate of George Wythe High School, is the son of Victoria Delaney and the grandson of Esther Jackson, both of Richmond.

    Bob Terry invested money and plenty of sweat equity into winning back-to-back championships at Virginia Motor Speedway. Those hour-and-a-half round trip drives from Stafford to Jamaica seemingly were worth the time and costly fuel. The winning positioned Terry to share his ride with his 14-year-old son, Scooter. For Terry, it’s more than racing. It’s a family affair.
