Four new schools are no longer in the short-term plan for the Rockingham County School system. Bennie Thomas Eanes, who was 85, died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on Monday afternoon after he was struck by a sport utility vehicle in front of Draper Elementary School that morning. Eanes was working as a crossing guard, a job he started in 1990.
