More than 100 people gathered at the All Veterans Memorial in Elkins on Wednesday to commemorate Veterans Day and honor veterans from all wars and all branches of the armed services. The Philip Barbour High School Homecoming parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. today in Philippi. Other activities include a football game and dance on Friday evening. Line-up for the parade will be at 6 p.m. on Railroad Avenue. Barbour County Schools Superintendent Dr. DeEdra Lundeen told board members Monday the school system is doing very well; however, there is still room for improvement based on her review of the 2008/2009 school year. Business leaders in Barbour County celebrated with a Mardi Gras-style theme Friday during the annual chamber banquet at Heiner Hall on the campus of Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi.
