  1. Parent Review -  Recommended

I have a 6th grader attending this school, and I would highly recommend it. The math classes in 6th grade are very small, with about 10-13 people in each class, and accelerated math is available. The class sizes overall are small as well--roughly 23 per class in 6th grade. The teachers I've met are enthusiastic & respectful, and they keep in contact through newsletters, emails, phone calls, & progress reports. They have a great band & orchestra, visual art, drama, Spanish, gym, and also many after-school opportunities (including sports teams). This is a year-round school. During school breaks, intersession classes are available. This coming intersession, they are offering classes in Russian, winter survival, teen psychology, & more. The principal, Anne Andersen, has returned to the school after being away on a 2 year leave of absence at an international school in Trondheim, Norway. She is a strong supporter of Crosswind's International Baccalaureate program.

  2. Student/Former Student Review -  Not Recommended

Crosswinds does have lot's of extra activities that allow students to go above and beyond. The academic resources are over all ok. They do not aparently, deal to much with bully's. At the age of middle school, bullying can be quite harsh, with the name calling and fitting in or not. I have had a situation with bullies and it was not delt with to good. All that happened was they made me sit down and tell the bully how I felt with what happened. Thats it! It didnt stop the bullying, the bully didn't get in trouble, nothing happened. Well the bullying continued, so I told my mother, she called the school, and we had a sit down with the bully, her parent, a my mother , the vice principal, a social worker, and me. We talked and told each side of the story, and told how we felt. Notes were taken, comments were made, and the bully was told to stop what she was doing. Again, thats it!, nothing was resolved. The school doesn't handle bullies too well. I recommed the school for the education, but not for safety from bullies!
