This school is terrible. My siblings, cousins, and I have all been bullied by students in this school.

Our child just finished kindergarten in the Mandarin Immersion program at Benjamin E. Mays IB World School. This was the first year of the Mandarin Immersion program at this school, and I''m so impressed with the quality of education she's getting. She can already read simple books in Mandarin, has conversations in Mandarin in and out of the classroom, and can write sentences in Mandarin. The Beijing math curriculum was a pleasant surprise for me - it's challenging and effective. By the end of the year, the class was adding and subtracting two digit numbers, could count to 1000, could count change (US currency), and could read an analog clock, all in Chinese. They even did word problems in Chinese throughout the year! I know the Benjamin E. Mays test scores might turn a lot of parents off - but this is one of those cases where the test scores are misleading. (Keep in mind that the first set of tests take place in 3rd grade, and the program just began in the 2011-2012 school year, so Mandarin Immersion students will not be included in the pool of children testing until the 2014-2015 school year.) If you''re interested in Mandarin immersion, please visit and see for yourself how awesome this program is. I think you''ll like what you see!
