i have a child in the Pre-K program at El Descanso School. I absolutely LOVE this program, the teacher, Mrs. Moraga, and the curriculum. My child attended two different preschools in the past 2 years, the first one we really enjoyed but we moved, and the second one, we were displeased with. There, it seems as though my child wasn't challenge and lost some skills she had learned from her first school. Deciding there needed to be a change, we put our daughter in El Descanso's Pre-k program this year, and she is doing so well, learning so much, and LOVES going to school! It's hard to get her to leave each day! The Zoophonics curriculum is amazing and has her using letter sounds, writing, and starting to READ! She still has until the end of the year to finish the program, but we already feel she's well on her way to being ready for kindergarten in the fall! She's learning about so many different things, and randomly uses her new knowledge everyday! she will see something that reminds her of something she learned in school, and she becomes like an open book! I learn a lot through her! haha The teacher is amazing! Patient, kind, understanding, and has a great approach to each and every child, no matter what their personality brings! The teacher has been in danger of losing the program, due to budget cuts throughtout the school system... PLEASE DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN! I have another daughter that we can't wait to send her there in 2 years.... we need the program to still be there!!!! I haven't heard of one disappointed parent from her class. Kris and Monica in the front office are very helpful if you're looking for information! (also, just have to add, the school's Pre-k prices are cheaper than other preschools in the area, I've already gotten so much more, educationally, for my daughter than i had at her old school in this same city!) Her dad and I felt like we wasted money last year! We made the best choice we could for last year, based on our options for our daughter's age group.... you live and learn! Luckily, she was old enough this year for the EDS Pre-k program! BEST DECISION! Check out EL DESCANSO SCHOOL's Pre-k program! Mrs. Moraga ALWAYS welcomes visitors to check out her class, see her teaching in action! (That's how we made our decision!)
