School Reviews

Sutherland is on the mend after a tumultuous past few years. The new principal inherited a school in disarray and a community strongly divided over the previous principal's departure. After a rocky start with the new administration, Sutherland's instruction and academic performance is back on track. My students had a rich array of interdisciplinary projects, activities, and field trips this year. They enjoyed music, dance, French, art, gym, and design/library classes. They had accelerated math and reading instruction. My children were happy with their teachers and the instructional environment at the school. They have good friends and plenty of opportunities to play sports and participate in school clubs. As a neighborhood resident for nearly two decades, I highly recommend this public school.

The new administration is a reflection of the lsc members who selected them. Smoke and mirrors...inflated sense of self...little if any real knowledge .....way too much opinion and does what they want regardless of what is best for the students. The school is going downhill with nothing to offer the younger students and little regard for instruction at any level. Very sad if allowed to continue. People are leaving already and will continue to do so in large numbers.

The lower grades don't receive gym of French. Gym was sacrificed for the upper grades to socialize at lunch. The new administration is doing poorly.
