YOUNG ATHLETES— Members of Camarillo Brownie Troop 60519 participated in the 25th annual Brownilympics June 14 at Rio Mesa High School. Young girls from throughout the area competed in various individual and team relays organized by the Brownies' fathers.

Jerri Lejeune's name fits her personality perfectly: Lejeune is French for the "young one." A sixth-grade teacher at Santa Rosa Technology Magnet School, Lejeune said that she is "58 going on 12." Lejeune was honored as an Educator of the Month by the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce for her work in the classroom.

Ten of 13 schools in the Pleasant Valley School District recorded scores above the statewide goal of 800 in the Academic Performance Index. Pleasant Valley School District's board of education approved a full-day kindergarten program for next year during last Thursday's board meeting at City Hall. The program change will cost the school district $485,000 in the first year of implementation.
