Navy Seaman Recruit Kelsey M. Cartwright recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. Cartwright is a 2008 graduate of Lakes Community High School of Lake Vill and the daughter of Janet Scholp of Round Lake Beach and Rick Cartwright of Lake Villa.

The Lake Villa Police Department is starting its own Shop with a Cop program. Officers will take kids shopping at the new Round Lake Beach Wal-Mart on Dec. 15 after they treat participants to a pizza party and visit from Santa.
