AMERICAN EAGLES: The fastpitch softball organization will hold tryouts for all teams Aug. 8 and 15. Divisions will be high school from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., 14 and under from 10 a.m. to noon, 12 and under from noon to 2 p.m. and 10 and under from 2 to 4 p.m. The American Eagles welcome all players.

One year ago, the prospects of graduating from high school were slim for Monte Vista School senior Kevin Enyeart. Enyeart said he had no interest in school, and his constant absences were becoming a problem.
