- Foothill High School is a public high school located in unincorporated community of Tustin Foothills in Orange County, California, with a mailing address of Santa Ana, California; however, it is a high school in the Tustin Unified School District. It is the only school in the Tustin Unified School District to offer the International Baccalaureate program. It is a multiple recipient of the California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School awards.
- Mission Statement
-
Foothill High School fosters a positive and rigorous learning environment, which encourages students to value themselves and others while pursuing their maximum potential. In this environment, students care about developing personal values; respect artistic, cultural, and intellectual diversity; and produce quality work.
- History and culture
-
Opened in September 1963 on of land, it is the second oldest high school in the Tustin Unified School District. Its name is derived from its literal position at the base of Cowan Heights and Lemon Heights in North Tustin. The school's colors are black and gold. The school's mascot is the Knight. The school is well known for its athletics and acclaimed teams. Many Foothill graduates have gone on to be professional athletes and some of their sports teams are currently rated #1 in the state.
- Traditions
-
Every assembly is filmed by Foothill's dedicated film production team, which also creates and plays videos on large projector screens provided by FilmEd* Academy of the Arts, which sponsors Foothill's film program.
- "Senior Munch" is another integral part of Foothill tradition. As indicated by its name, Senior Munch is a day in which the senior class is allowed to have an off-campus event during the week. While the events vary slightly from year to year, they generally include:
- breakfast at Knott's Berry Farm with a hypnotist show following.
- dinner and a "joust" at Medieval Times
- Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland are also one of the munches every year.
- There is also a picnic in the park the day before the last day of school for seniors to sign each others year books and they also get their yearbooks before the underclassman.
- Programs
-
Foothill High School has many strong academic programs, including the Advanced Placement program and the International Baccalaureate program. In addition, students can join the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, designed to help "B" and "C" students move on to a four-year university.
- Foothill also offers one of the most prestigious high school video production programs in Southern California. Students are trained with industry professionals from the FilmEd* Academy of the Arts and can check out state-of-the-art film equipment for use in projects. Many students who have gone through Foothill's program have gone on to win many awards at film festivals and look forward to having illustrious careers in the industry.
- During the 2003-2004 school year, a biweekly 40-minute "reading period" was introduced in order to provide on-campus, free tutoring to students. This program has since been expanded in order to provide California High School Exit Exam tutoring for juniors and seniors in danger of not graduating as a result of failure to pass the CAHSEE.
- Since the 2005-2006 school year, almost all classes use the online educational service Edline. Edline is said to soon be replaced by the new online program Aeries.

-
In addition, there are 5 IB Higher Level and 8 IB Standard Level courses offered, but because of the individualized nature of International Baccalaureate study, students are able to take many of the higher level classes as a standard level study and vice versa. As a requirement of the IB program, the IB students at Foothill are required to take the class known as Theory of Knowledge. For the past several years at Foothill, unique to other schools, these classes have been offered during the night for several hours twice a week. This is considered a seventh period for the students.
