Annawan/Wethersfield’s lone loss this season came in a 33-0 Week 2 defeat to Mercer County. The Titans’ Week 3 playoff opponents, Gibson City-Melvin Sibley, punched their tickets into the 2A quarterfinals by blowing out that same Mercer County squad, 60-19.
Kewanee native writes prize-winning science fiction novel (Kewanee Star Courier)

A Kewanee native, Michael Somers, recently completed a lifelong goal of completing and publishing a science fiction novel. The book has already won an award, quite an accomplishment for a first effort. But then, Mike Somers is quite a guy.

Wethersfield High School is the only senior high school in Wethersfield, Connecticut.
Facilities
Wethersfield High has a campus. The campus includes a greenhouse, a synthetic surface outdoor track, the Esposito baseball complex, a softball field, the DiCicco soccer field and the Cottone Football/Soccer Stadium. The building has approximately of space.
The school's ice hockey team skates out of Newington Arena (formerly known as Connecticut International Skating Center) in Newington, Connecticut.

Awards
Wethersfield High School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in 1996.
Athletics
Wethersfield High School excels at a variety of sports including Track and Field, Baseball, and Soccer.The soccer team currently holds the most titles in Connecticut, with 15. The latest of the titles came in 2008 when Wethersfield beat East Lyme 3-2.
In 2008, the baseball team posted an 18-2 regular season record, the best in school history. Also, they were a perfect 10-0 in the CCC West Conference, making them the Conference Champions for the third time in four years.
Wethersfield's ice hockey team won the Connecticut Division III State Championships in 2007, for the first time in the team's 33 year history.
In 2006, the Boys Track and Field Team won CIAC's Class L State Meet, and in 2008, they won CIAC's Class MM State Meet, repeating it again in 2009
The boy's volleyball program had its best season in the program's ten year history in 2008, going 15-3 with a conference championship and a first round bye in the state tournament.
Wethersfield Boys Swimming & Diving went 11-0 this season, the first time in 16 years being undefeated. Winning the CCC West for the third time, in the last 3 years.
Theater program
The school's theater program, headed by Mr. Roets, generally produces two plays per academic year, a non-musical theatrical production in the fall season, and a musical in the spring. Recently, Wethersfield has performed productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Godspell, West Side Story, Oklahoma!, and Honk!. Fall productions have included a collection of stories by Kurt Vonnegut, A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Importance of Being Earnest. In March 2008, students put on the musical Kiss Me, Kate. Wethersfield is currently working on the creation of a full time drama department within the school.
