Over a game of pingpong late last month, two students at a Hallandale Beach reform school got into an argument when, according to police, one punched a window, "grabbed a big shard of broken glass" and "threatened to kill" the other student with it.

The West Miramar Panthers 90s shut out the Pompano Tigers 24-0 in the South Florida Youth Football League. Dylan Litsinberger had a 60-yard touchdown run and six tackles. Patrick Surtain II scored on a 65-yard run. Kai Campbell added a 38-yard touchdown run. Addison Alufohai kicked three two-pointers.

Senior twins Alia and Delcia Johnson are two-year starters on Hallandale High School girls' varsity volleyball team. They debuted in the sport their freshman seasons on the junior varsity squad.

Most local schools have stocked up with hand sanitizer just in case of a swine flu outbreak. Spanish River High School has installed about 30 Purell antibacterial stands on campus to safeguard its 2,200 students against the H1N1 virus, known as swine flu.

Hallandale High School is a secondary school located in Hallandale Beach, Florida. The school is a part of the Broward County Public Schools district, and was established in 1973.
The school serves approximately 1,500 students in grades 9 through 12. The school's principal is Rosemary Chambers. The school's athletic teams are known as the Chargers, and the school colors are maroon,gold and white. Hallandale High has an FCAT school grade of "C" for the 2008-2009 academic year. This school was also the first location in florida to report a case of swine flu. Magnet Programs
Halladale High is an All Magnet High School. Every students who attends Hallandale High must be enrolled in a Magnet program. These programs are broken down into three houses. The two major being Communications and International Affairs. Also there is the Urban Teacher Academy. Under these programs classes are based around these fields:

The Thunderbolt is the official student newspaper of Hallandale High School. The Thunderbolt is published monthly on a print edition and is updated regularly on their student run website.
Also there is WCIA News which is run by students.
Mascot
After almost 35 years without an official mascot, The Mighty 'Dale'-- a 7 foot, maroon horse wearing a 'Chargers' jersey, was introduced to Hallandale in 2006. Dale reportedly made his first appearance at a Freshman class orientation in August of that year. However, due to complications, the Hallandale Mascot did not make an appearance during the 2007-2008 school year.
The mascot dilemma had been addressed numerous times by different faculty members since the early 2000s but it wasn't until 2005 when Drama teacher/director John Battle came up with the idea of having an actual mascot present at the school. The following year, "The Mighty Dale" was introduced for a brief period.
Clubs and Organizations
Hallandale has a variety of clubs for students to join. Students are welcome to create their own clubs as well. Also there is the 21st century program which offers tutoring for students in mathematics, reading, and SAT/ACT prep.
