Jared Clayton Davis, 34, died Sept. 17 in Wasilla. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Colony Ward, across from Colony High School in Palmer.

PALMER — As his team huddled on the far side of the field for the final time during the 2009 season, Colony head coach Jamie Mayo didn’t shy away from taking responsibility for the Knights’ 34-12 loss to the Bartlett Golden Bears in the first round of the ASAA large-schools state championships.
