- Pembroke Pines Charter High School is located in Pembroke Pines, Florida. With a growing population, Pembroke Pines built and opened two elementary schools and a middleschool: Pembroke Pines Charter West Elementary and Middle and East Elementarycampuses. It then took on the challenge of building a high school. The Charter High Schoolwas created as a part of the Academic Village. This campus also includes a regional library,a community college, a university and a performing arts center. Two years later, anothermiddle and elementary school were built, Pembroke Pines Central Charter Middle andElementary Campus. Pembroke Pines-Florida State University campus is the latest campus tobe built; which opened in 2003. Most students who attend Pembroke Pines Charter High School previously attended the Pembroke Pines Charter Middle Schools, Central and West campuses. Previously students from nearby cities were able to apply for admission however, in 2005 have been restricted to only residents of Pembroke Pines. The City ofPembroke Pines established a lottery system for entrance to the school. Applications are accepted once a year fromFebruary to April. Students who are not picked by the lottery are placed on a waiting listuntil an opening occurs.
- In 2005, PPCHS received its first A grade from the State of Florida. Being brought up from its previous D grade in 2004, the high school was the first in the state to make such a jump. The school now remains at an A.
- In 2007, PPCHS was named National Charter School of the year.
- Pembroke Pines Charter Schools are funded and administered by the City of Pembroke Pines as opposed to the Broward County School Board.
