School Notes:
  • First Coast High School is a 9-12 comprehensive high school located in the Oceanway neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. It was opened in 1990, at the same time as its sister school, Mandarin High School, opened up in the southern part of the city.
  • The school's design is unique for Jacksonville schools (other than Mandarin, which started with an identical layout). The school is built around a large paved courtyard, somewhat reminiscent of Spanish architecture from the colonial period of Latin America. In 2006, an additional wing was added to the school, to accommodate the explosive growth in North Jacksonville.
  • Sports: The team mascot is the Buccaneers. The football team won the district championship in both 2005 and 2006.
