A Peak honor (Statesboro Herald)

Tanita Peak, a fourth grade teacher at Brooklet Elementary School, was named Friday the 2010 Bulloch County School System’s Teacher of the Year. Peak learned of her selection Friday morning when Superintendent Lewis Holloway and administrators surprised her in her classroom.

One of the region's most popular fall festival will take place this weekend: Portal's 28th Annual Catface Country Turpentine Festival will kick off Saturday with a parade, and the fun will roll over to Sunday, offering visitors two full days of music, great food, fun and more.

Mary Henley is pure Bulloch County. She was born here, went to school at Sallie Zetterower, Julia P. Bryant, William James, and then graduated from the old Statesboro High School. Her father, Donald Hackett, was the long-time dean of the Technology School at Georgia Southern.
