    The annual Spelling Bee at West Carroll Intermediate School was held on Wednesday, January 27, in the Media Center. Sixteen students who had been previous winners in classroom spelling bees were competing that day. Fifth grade teacher Beth Diener acted as pronouncer.

    It was a dominating performance by a team that has dominated league play the past two seasons. Mililani defeated Pearl City, 5-1, in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red West Division girls soccer game last night at Pearl City High School.

  • Pearl City High School is located in the Pearl City CDP in the City and County of Honolulu in the state of Hawai'i, adjacent to the Pearl City CDP.
  • Established in 1973, Pearl City High School is a public, secondary, co-educational, college preparatory high school governed by the Hawaii State Department of Education. The campus boasts the sculptures Moon Beyond the Fence by Satoru Abe and Kua Kua Lua by Donald M. Page.
  • The motto, "Excellence with Honor," was created by Richard Mahony.
  • Pearl City High School is most noted for its exceptional music program, and had earned their reputation under the direction of Pearl City High School band director Mr. Michael Nakasone. The Pearl City High School "Charger" Band is currently under the direction of Chadwick Kamei (currently on sabbatical), Cathy "MoMo" Momohara, Christopher Lopez, and Kendal Ledesma "Ms.Ledes".
  • Under Nakasone's direction the Wind Ensemble I has appeared in the prestigious Mid-West Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois, the ABA-JBA Convention, and the MENC (Music Educators National Convention) in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • The Symphonic Winds (formerly known as with Wind Ensemble I) recently returned from a successful performance at the 2009 Hamamatsu Wind Band Conference. Under Kamei’s direction, the band has had many opportunities to work with noteable guest conductors and musicians such as Dr. Jerry Junkin, Dr. Barry Kopetz, Dr. Thomas Leslie, Prof. Tad Suzuki, Mr. Wataru Hokoyama, Mr. Grant Okamura, Mr. Thomas Bingham, Mr. Todd Yukumoto, Mr. Michael Zonshine, and many more.
  • Pearl City High School earned the maximum accreditation term of six years in 2006 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
