Judging by the way that four of the area high school teams were flying around last Saturday afternoon on fields in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls, you probably don't have to guess if they are ready for the state soccer tournament to get started this week in Eagle and Meridian.

Eagle High School is a four-year public secondary school in Eagle, Idaho, operated by the Meridian School District. EHS opened in August 1995, educating students in grades 9–12, and the current student body is approximately 2,200, an average of 550 students per class year. The school colors are hunter green and silver, and its mascot is the mustang.
Courses
The school is reputable for its honors and Advanced Placement classes, which it offers in numerous subjects. Some of these courses offer college credit through Boise State University and Northwest Nazarene University. Eagle High has a renowned broadcasting program, established by Jim Seaney.
Athletics
EHS is in IHSAA class 5A, for the largest enrollments in Idaho, and is a member of the Southern Idaho Conference (SIC), the largest and most competitive conference in the state. Boys' basketball has won the conference championship three times - 1995 (Hordamaan, Andersen), 2005 (Ranstrom, Douglas, Moss, Wright), and 2008 (Bruneel, Beckstrom, VanLith). The football program has won six conference championships (1996-1999, 2001, 2008) and two state championships (1998, 2001), both under coach Mike Glenn. Wrestling has won the state title three times (2001, 2003, 2004), and baseball (2003) and boys' golf (2008) have also earned one state title apiece.
In 2001, Jon Helmandollar was Idaho's Gatorade Player Of the Year in football for his record setting season of 1964 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns. In 2008, Mitch Bruneel was Idaho's Gatorade Player of the Year in basketball for his average of 23.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
In 2006, Eagle High School became the first high school in Idaho to install an artificial turf football field on its campus. The project cost $500,000 and was funded entirely by donations, half of which was raised by the Eagle High Booster Club.
