KANKAKEE – Nick Mullett couldn't wait to eat some pizza, drink a beer, and see his family for the first time in almost a year. But as the bus he was riding in moved slowly behind a parade of hundreds of motorcycles, police cruisers and firetrucks into downtown Kankakee, the Illinois National Guard member from Paxton couldn't help but notice what was happening right in front of him.
