A controversial decision has the Champaign school district bracing itself. Administrators are talking with staff about the possibility of a soft lockdown. It may happen after the Champaign County State's attorney releases the Kiwane Carrington report. He's the 15-year-old who was killed with an officer's gun last month. The state's attorney is deciding whether to file charges against that officer.

Kayla Thrasher was about to pull away from Urbana High School in her truck on a recent afternoon. But before she did, she fastened her seat belt. She always wears it, she said. It's something her parents have always encouraged her to do.

Des Moines (Drake Sports Information) -- High school basketball standouts Karl Madison, a 5-foot 10-inch guard from Springfield, Ill.; Rayvonte Rice, a 6-3 guard from Champaign, Ill., and Jeremy Jeffers, a 6-6 guard from Wilson, N.C., signed national letters of intent Wednesday at Drake, indicating they will join the Drake men's basketball program.

Curriculum
The school offers a variety of courses, including AP courses in Macroeconomics, English, Calculus AB or BC, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, US History, American Government, and Statistics. In addition, many consumer science and industrial technology courses are offered. The school also offers a Young Adult Program for students 18-21 years of age, which is based at Parkland College.The student-teacher ratio is 16:1, average for the state.The schools basketball team also won state championship game in 2009 beating Oswego 61-59!
