MOUNT STERLING, Ill. — Brown County football coach Tom Little collected his thoughts shortly before speaking to reporters Saturday. It wasn't the first time the Hornets coach had been on the losing side of a football game, but for Little and his team, it was the first of the season.

MOUNT STERLING, Ill. -- At Brown County High School, a group known as the "Hawg Squad" revs its motorcycle engines each time the Hornets score. The group was eager to make some noise as Triopia, ranked No. 3 in Class 1A, came into town.

JACKSONVILLE — The Mount Sterling Brown County High School Hornets pretty much showed all in attendance Friday night at Kraushaar-Rosenberger Field why they are No. 2 in the latest Associated Press Class 1A state football rankings. The Hornets scored early, and often and kept their streak alive at now five games without being scored on in their 44-0 drubbing of host Jacksonville Routt Catholic.
