Fort Wayne Community Schools is not the only northeast Indiana school district cutting its budget to accommodate rising costs and the economic climate.

Officials hope the plan, which is a response to dwindling revenue from the state, will net a savings of about $925,000 and keep the district from sinking into a $1 million deficit in about two years, Superintendent H. Steve Sprunger said.
