A great way to enjoy a fine meal, revel in great, small-town camaraderie and support the Payson High School boys and girls basketball teams is to take advantage of the annual fish fry when it is held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1 in the Rim Country Middle School cafeteria.

This week I thought I would write about one of Payson's living legends and that was Eugene Hillman. What a kind, kind, man he was. He is what I'd call a real 'Gentleman'.

Payson High School is a 3A division high school located in the rural town of Payson, Arizona. it has approximately 900 students. The school mascot is the Longhorn, depicted on the side of the school's auditorium. School colors are purple and gold.
Payson Longhorns are well known for wrestling program with legend Dennis Pirch as long time coach, Rc Lahaye who is now Grand Canyon University Wrestling Coach is a former 3 time state champion from Payson.
Payson also won the State Championship in football in 1981, 1998, and in 2008
Courses
Many areas of practical education course are covered at Payson High School. Vocational courses include Autos, Drafting, Home Economics, Parenting, Business, Band, Chorus, Drama, IC3 and A+ Computer Certification.
Core classes are, as always, a part of the educational experience. Math, Science, English and History are all subjects covered extensively.
