School Notes:
  • James Hubert Blake High School was named after James Hubert Blake, a jazz musician of the early and mid-20th century. Founded in 1998. Blake offers a comprehensive academic program with a signature program in fine arts and humanities.
  • High School Musical was performed in December of 2006 by the Blake Stage Company, and will be performed again in June 2007 at the National Theatre Festival. Although all of the shows in December were sold out, and with the exception of the live band, the production has received very little positive feedback from anyone, even its cast and crew. The Stage Company itself is considered a disgrace to the school and all of the students who attend it.
  • Blake Beat Newspaper: The Blake Beat, advised by Kevin Keegan, was recently ranked as the top student high school newspaper in the country by the Association of Educational Publishers in 2006. This comes after multiple years that the Blake Beat was ranked as one of the top five student newspapers in the country.
