Spring Lake Public Schools has four campuses and five academic buildings with the high school being the largest and newest facility. The current high school building opened its doors in September 2000, and an adjacent community aquatic and fitness center opened September 2008.

In May 2006, Spring Lake, along with three other Michigan high schools, was named an "SI School" by Sports Illustrated and the Center for Health Promotion at Oregon Health & Science University. An SI grant will allow for steroid, nutrition, and drug prevention awareness programs for student-athletes at SLHS .
