Sparta Middle School sixth grade band members recently created an online band encyclopedia, which they titled Bandipedia. A great reference for Sparta’s beginner band students, the site has video demonstrations of early techniques that include instrument assembly and tone production, as well as play-along audio recordings for young musicians. The Sparta Education Foundation has approved a $31,847 grant for Sparta Middle School. The funding request will supply the seventh and eighth-grade science teachers with 60 Acer “netbooks” along with Vernier LabQuests and Probeware. The Sparta Education Foundation has named recipients for its 2008-09 grants. The funds are used for extras that enhance the educational experience. A total of $18,000 was awarded this year.
