Santa Lucia Middle School includes grades sixth through eighth and serves Cambria, San Simeon, and surrounding areas. As a middle school, the staff of Santa Lucia use instructional strategies that accommodate diverse learning styles, interests, and developmental readiness utilizing hands-on activities, real life situations, questioning strategies, individual and group projects, and the use of technology. The Santa Lucia staff has developed a very strong academic program, a well as a well balanced extra-curriculum program.

Santa Lucia Middle School sent forth 48 students during the school’s annual promotion exercise Thursday, June 2. Kimberly Mendez led the Pledge of Allegiance, adding that the students should be proud of their accomplishments and “live, laugh and love!” -

Some of Suzette Morrow's art students at Santa Lucia Middle School painted a mural on the southeast wall of the school gymnasium. The 10 students selected the 'ocean life' theme, designed the 20-foot wide mural, sketched it and painted it. The project was funded by the Cambria Education Foundation (see related story, Page 5.) Public input is sought on plans for a community park with recreational playing fields at Santa Lucia Middle School in Cambria. Coast Unified School District and Cambria Community Services District are collaborating on a grant application.
