- Hillsborough High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students from Hillsborough Township in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Hillsborough Township School District. Students from Millstone attend the school as part of a sending/receiving relationship.
- As of the 2006-07 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,306 students and 174 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 13.4.

The school was the 84th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. Alumni of Hillsborough High School regularly matriculate at the nation's top ranked universities including Harvard, Princeton, MIT, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Duke, Cornell, Brown, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, and Georgetown.
- The school was ranked 100th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which included 316 schools across the state.

Hillsborough High School has 74 different clubs and activities. Of course students can make a new club with a faculty member and the administration’s approval.
- In 2006, at the USSBA National Championships at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland, Hillsborough High School was recognized as Best Color Guard National Championship title in Class IV. Also in 2006 at USSBA-hosted State Championships at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, Hillsborough High School took the title of Group IV Open State Champs for the fourth consecutive year.

Hillsborough High School competes in the Skyland Conference, which comprises nineteen public and parochial high schools covering Hunterdon County, Somerset County and Warren County in west Central Jersey.
- The boys swimming team won the 2007 Central - A state championship with a 103-67 win against Montgomery High School.
- The boys baseball team won the Somerset County Championship, the Central Jersey Group 4 Sectional Final and the Group 4 Finals in 2005..
- In 2008, Mary Kate Lynch was awarded the Annual Scholar Athlete Luncheon for Hillsborough Highschool
- In the winter 2009 season, David Wilson broke his own school record (21.05) for the 50 freestyle to win and individual State Championship as “the fastest man in the state.” Also at the Meet of Champions, Wilson earned an All-American status for the butterfly 200 medley relay. Wilson won two more titles during his senior year, the 50 free and 100 fly at Somerset County and Skyland Conference meets.
- In 2009, Steven Wu won Somerset County boy's tennis championship.

The Board of Education is beginning an inquiry into the high number of suicides in Hillsborough High School. For the past 3 years, at least one member of each graduating class has committed suicide. As a result, the board is increasing funding for counseling.

New Jersey State law requires that every student pass the High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) and successfully complete the following courses:All students must carry at least 25 credits to be promoted to the next grade level.
