Rotary Club of Belleville and 1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey are teaming up to collect coats for kids from Sept. 30 to Oct. 30. New and gently used coats will be accepted at 1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey, 7 Sanford Ave., Belleville, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. An after hours drop off is located in a marked bin located at the main entrance of the Cerebral Palsy Center.
NJMC awards $24,000 in scholarships (The Record and Herald News)

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) recently awarded $24,000 in science scholarships to students in the Meadowlands District. The award recognizes graduating high school seniors who have done well academically and who have chosen a science-related field as their major in college.

Educators have differing opinions on whether high school seniors should be allowed to come and go as they please at certain times of the day. Those in favor of the privilege say the experience can teach responsibility.

North Arlington High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grade from North Arlington, in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the North Arlington School District.
As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 498 students and 40.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.2.
The school was the 198th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. The school was ranked 182nd in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.
Athletics
The school participates in the Bergen County Scholastic League's National athletic conference. The school's nickname is the Vikings, and the school colors are royal blue and white. The schools athletic rivals are Lyndhurst High School and Harrison High School which participate in the Thanksgiving football game annually. The Vikings are currently under the NJSIAA classifications as Group I, North II. The school offers many boys and girls athletic programs that include:
Fall Football, Boys & Girls Soccer, Cheerleading, Cross County^
Winter Boys & Girls Basketball, Cheerleading, Bowling, Wrestling^
Spring Boys & Girls Track, Baseball, Softball, Golf
