WILDWOOD — According to data released Nov. 18 by the U.S. Census Bureau’s Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE) program, Cape May County’s rate of poverty for school-aged children is above the state average and Wildwood School District had the highest rate in the state.

Wildwood High School is a comprehensive community public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Wildwood, in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Wildwood Public School District.
As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 284 students and 27.2 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 10.4.
Students from North Wildwood, West Wildwood and Wildwood Crest attend Wildwood High School as part of sending/receiving relationships with their respective school districts.
The school was the 253rd-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. The school was ranked 299th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.
Athletics
Wildwood High School is one of the member schools of the Tri-County Conference, which is composed of schools whose enrollments vary greatly for grades 9-12. The smallest one, Clayton High School, has 249 students enrolled whereas the largest one, Williamstown, has 1,343 students.
The Wildwood High School boys basketball team won three consecutive state championships from 1940 through 1942.
Notable alumni
Randy Beverly (born 1944), former professional American football player who played cornerback for the American Football League's New York Jets and is best known for making two key interceptions that helped the Jets to their historic victory in Super Bowl III in 1969.
Monica Johnson (Class of 2002), South Jersey girls' basketball's all-time leading scorer (3,173 points).
